What is the CATIA Course at STI?

The CATIA — Surfacing & Assembly Design course at Skill Training Institute (STI), Alpha-1, Greater Noida is a 3-month, 16-module, 90+ hour hands-on program teaching feature-based part design, Generative Shape Design surfacing, Class-A surface continuity, assembly design and OEM-standard drawings with BOM. It is built around aerospace and automotive OEM design practice, and learners finish with a complete surfaced component-to-assembly capstone package, backed by weekly assessments and 100% Placement Assist.

Who this course is for

Built for diploma/degree engineering students, ITI candidates and working professionals who want dedicated, in-depth training on CATIA for aerospace and automotive OEM-grade design — no prior 3D CAD experience required.

By the end you'll build robust parametric parts, create Class-A style surfaces with Generative Shape Design, structure multi-component assemblies, and produce a complete, OEM-standard drawing and BOM package.

7Quick answers

Do I need any prior CAD or engineering background?

No. Basic familiarity with mechanical shapes helps but isn't required — every concept, from sketching to surfacing, is taught from the ground up.

Do I need my own laptop with CATIA installed?

CATIA is licence- and hardware-heavy, so institute computers with CATIA are provided in class; a personal laptop is optional and only useful if it meets CATIA's requirements.

Is this course specific to aerospace, or also useful for automotive?

Core CATIA part design, surfacing and assembly skills apply to both; the industry-practice module and project choices reflect conventions used by aerospace and automotive OEMs alike.

Will I actually design real components, or is it mostly theory?

You'll design real parts, surfaces and assemblies from week one. Every module includes hands-on practice on realistic components, ending in a full design-package capstone.

Are classes online, offline, or both?

Both. Offline batches run at our Alpha-1, Greater Noida campus; online live batches follow the same curriculum with the same trainers. Morning, evening and weekend timings are available.

What can I do after completing this course?

You'll be ready for design engineer, surfacing engineer and DMU/CAD engineer roles at aerospace and automotive OEMs and their supplier firms, with a design portfolio of real projects, and can progress into advanced simulation or manufacturing tracks with the same placement support.

How is CATIA different from AutoCAD or SolidWorks?

AutoCAD is primarily 2D drafting software, while SolidWorks and CATIA are both 3D CAD tools. CATIA is the OEM-grade platform large aerospace and automotive manufacturers standardise on for Class-A surfacing, large assembly management and DMU/kinematics work — the focus of this course.
